Safety Officer
The Safety Officer manages the unit's safety program and advises the unit command staff on the status of safety hazards and risk management. As the principal officer in charge of the unit's compliance with Civil Air Patrol safety regulations, the Safety Officer ensures that members are adequately briefed and educated on operational hazards and safety program protocols.

Responsibilities

Facilitation of CAP safety risk management and safety compliance programs

Commander's principal advisor on unit safety issues and identified hazards, with a straight reporting line to the Commander for any imminent safety threat or concern which needs to be addressed immediately

Assurance of unit compliance through CAP inspection programs (i.e., Subordinate Unit Inspections)

Implementation of unit policies on weather hazards and meeting cancellation protocols
