Social Media Policy


Social media is a broad term which applies to a number of platform in which media may be exchanged between individuals or groups, or shared with the public. This may include, but is not limited to, Discord, Facebook, Reddit, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitch, Twitter, YouTube, WhatsApp, emails, and/or text messages. 


Photography and Videography

All photos and videos taken during CAP activities are considered official forms of media subject to CAP oversight. This includes personal photos, selfies, and other media which may be recorded by Public Affairs Officers, staff members, and individuals in attendance at CAP activities. 


Official Unit Social Media

The unit officially uses CAP-approved platforms to share photos, videos, and information, and to communicate with CAP members, parents, and the public. All posts made through these platforms are considered official CAP media and should be regarded as the only official sources of unit media and information. 

Information obtained through private user accounts should not be considered as factual and/or official information. 

Official unit social media sites may be found at: 

  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • Google Suite (*Official email communications platform. Limited access controlled by Ohio Wing Headquarters.) 
  • Remind (*Only authorized users may use Remind for unit updates to eliminate spam and enforce Cadet Protection protocols)
  • Slack (*Only authorized users may use Slack for unit updates to eliminate spam and enforce Cadet Protection protocols)


Member Use of Social Media

All members are subject to CAP regulations in regard to social media usage. 

Members who are found to use social media inappropriately are subject to disciplinary action and termination. This may include, but is not limited to, harassment or insult of other members, criticism of CAP officials, and other conduct that may be deemed unbecoming of CAP members and CAP Core Values.
