S5 Public Affairs

The squadron S5 serves to administer of the Cadet Detachment's public outreach programming

 

Responsibilities

  • External websites, calendars, and social media — The S5 maintains external websites and web calendars by updating them with current information on unit activities. The S5 works in conjunction with the Squadron Public Affairs Officer (PAO) to maintain unit social media pages, posting regular updates on Cadet activities and events. 

  • Activity Photography — The S5 assists in the photography and recording of cadet activities, capturing "action shots" and other photos to be published in unit media. The S5 is supported by the PAO in these duties.

  • External organization liaison — The S5 serves as the principal liaison with external organizations in support of unit activities beyond weekly training. Contractual agreements are required to be made through Ohio Wing Legal, and should be directed through the Squadron Activities Officer.

  • Recruiting & Retention program  — The S5 serves as the principal Recruiting and Retention (RECREN) specialist by preparing recruiting materials, engaging with prospective cadet members, and developing articles to be published to the unit website and local news outlets. The S5 is supported by the PAO in these duties.
