Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics

Civil Air Patrol encourages members to become innovative through the application of STEM learning and hands-on experimentation in problem-solving and technological discovery. 

Cadets who participate in STEM activities are eligible to be awarded STEM Badges of varying levels based on each cadet's contributions to STEM programming.

Award Criteria

Basic STEM Badge

     (1)  Complete Achievement 3 of the Cadet Program
     (2)  Participate in at least 12 hours of STEM activities
     (3)  Write a career dossier on a STEM-related occupation

 

Intermediate STEM Badge

     (1)  Earn the Basic STEM Badge
     (2)  Complete Achievement 5 of the Cadet Program
     (3)  Participate in an additional 12 hours of STEM activities, at least 3 hours of which are instructing/tutoring
     (4)  Write a second career dossier on a STEM-related occupation

 

Advanced STEM Badge

     (1)  Earn the Intermediate STEM Badge
     (2)  Earn the Mitchell Award
     (3)  Participate in an additional 12 hours of STEM activities, at least 6 hours of which are instructing/tutoring
     (4)  Lead a non-cadet group in the community in a 30-minute, hands-on STEM activity
     (5)  Write a third career dossier on a STEM-related occupation
